Ten Online Knitting Resources for Beginning Knitters

In spite of having been knitting for a year, I am still a beginner. So far, all I’ve been doing is the garter stitch to make scarves. 🙂 I’ll move on to something a bit more challenging soon. In the meantime, I thought I’d share some of my favorite knitting resources that I’ve found over the last several months.

In no particular order, they are:

1. Knitting Tips by Judy.

2. Cyberseams.com.

3. The Knit Witch.

4. Vogue Knitting. (For free patterns.)

5. Ravelry.

6. Knitty.

7. Knittinghelp.com.

8. Interweave.

9. Fiber Arts Online.

10. YouTube. (A quick search brings up LOTS of videos related to knitting; as a matter of fact, many of the above sites I found through Youtube.)

What’s your favorite knitting resource?

(Linked to Top Ten Tuesday and Works for me Wednesday.)

P.S. If you haven’t seen it yet, go check out my eBook giveaway! The drawing is on Thursday.

  1. I just blogged about Ravelry today for WFMW (at my family blog)myself! I can’t believe I only discovered it this year (I’ve been knitting for two years). Thanks for all these links. I’ve visited most of them but there are a couple of new ones that I’m excited to check out.

Funny, I just came from your blog, saying that I mentioned Ravelry here. LOL!

I just wish I had started learning to knit a long time ago – it’s so relaxing for me. 🙂

  2. I learned to knit enough to make pot holders when I was a kid; I’ve considered trying it again, so I’ll check out those links.

That’s great, RAnn. I’ve never made potholders, but could use some new ones, so I should give them a try.

  3. I’ve been knitting for a while, but still have a lot to learn. I’ll have to check ou these sites. Thanks! 🙂

  4. Hi,

I thought you might consider adding our website, Yarnplaces.com to your list of knitting resources. We offer nationwide maps of yarn shops, fiber farms and all sorts of knitting and crochet events (festivals, markets, expos, retreats, yarn crawls, cruises, workshops, etc.)

Hi Cindy. I just checked out your website (http://www.yarnplaces.com/). I love how you and the people on your site are using knitting to donate to good causes and help the community through “yarnbombs.” Thanks for sharing your site here.
