In Gratitude for all our Veterans

eagle flagWe should be deeply grateful for all Veterans, living and deceased, who have had to courage to serve in our Armed Forces and sacrifice themselves for our freedom. I don’t think we could truly understand the sacrifices that they (and their families!) have made for us and our country.

In particular, we should be grateful for all those who have have lost their lives so that we could be safe. In that vein, I’d like to share a prayer for deceased Veteran’s that I found on catholic.org:

“O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord.”

May God bless all our Veterans!

  5. Thanks for the prayer. The diocese of Wichita, Kansas is advancing the cause of Father Emil Kapaun, a hero from the Korean war. Great story and makes me so proud to be Catholic and American. I’m sure Father Kapaun is in heaven now praying for all our fallen soldiers.
