I’m not sure where I got this recipe, but I’ve seen several versions of it around the ‘net and elsewhere. It is always a big hit.
Recipe: Dump Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 20 oz can crushed pineapple (with juice)
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 1 stick butter, melted
Instructions:
- Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray.
- Dump in pineapple and spread in bottom of pan.
- Spoon cherry pie filling evenly over the pineapple.
- Sprinkle cake mix evenly over that.
- Drizzle melted butter evenly over all.
- Bake in a 350 oven for 1 hour or until done.
- Top each serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Quick Notes
This cake comes out kind of like a cobbler. Have fun and experiment with different flavor combinations! Change up the fruit and cake flavors. Add nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, peanut-butter chips, caramel candy, etc.

Thanks, Pam. I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I was looking through the recipes. So many good ones, so little time to try them all.
MMMM!! Who cares where it came from, right? I’m just glad it’s here now! Are you getting any Lent recipes together? I always end up with Tuna Noodle casserole every Friday. Blah!

Yes, I have a few Lenten recipes I’ll be sharing. I can’t deal with Tuna casserole (or Pizza!) every Friday night, either!
I love dump cake, but I have never had it with the pineapple in it, I will definitely have to try this! (Found you through Recipe Round Table!)
