A Prayer for Veterans

God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nation and have laid down their lives
to protect and defend our freedom.

We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war,
whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day.

We pray for those who serve us now, especially for those in harm’s way.
Shield them from danger and bring them home.

Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and a harvest of peace.

Spare the poor, Lord, spare the poor!

May the peace you left us, the peace you gave us, be the peace that sustains,
the peace that saves us.

Christ Jesus, hear us!
Lord Jesus, hear our prayer!

Amen.

Tweetable: Prayer for Veterans

(Prayer written by Concord Pastor)

Here is a video tribute to our soldiers:

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Today we honor all our Veteran’s and thank them for their sacrifice and service to our country. If you are curious about the history of Veteran’s Day, here is a brief explaination on how it came to be celebrated on November 11. Additionally, don’t forget to say a prayer for your favorite Veteran and all Veterans.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

A big THANK YOU to our Veteran’s for their service to our Country! Let’s also pray for those Veteran’s who have died. Lastly, let’s not forget the families of our Veteran’s, they made (make) many sacrifices for our Country, too!

In Gratitude for all our Veterans

eagle flagWe should be deeply grateful for all Veterans, living and deceased, who have had to courage to serve in our Armed Forces and sacrifice themselves for our freedom. I don’t think we could truly understand the sacrifices that they (and their families!) have made for us and our country.

In particular, we should be grateful for all those who have have lost their lives so that we could be safe. In that vein, I’d like to share a prayer for deceased Veteran’s that I found on catholic.org:

“O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest, look kindly on your departed veterans who gave their lives in the service of their country. Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son they may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom and rejoice in you with your saints forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord.”

May God bless all our Veterans!
