Thankful Box

Thankful Box

This is Andrew’s version of this idea. We are going to put the box in a prominent place. Each day everyone one in the family can write what they are thankful for on a piece of paper and put it in the box and then I’ll have Andrew read each one aloud on Thanksgiving Day.

(I know our box isn’t nearly as nice as the one I linked to, but our version of the box was Andrew’s idea and craftsmanship. He’s happy with it and that’s what matters! 🙂 )

Ten Silly Things my 5-year-old is Grateful For

For November, I’ve been working on gratitude and thankfulness with my son. Each night before he goes to sleep, I have him tell me at least one thing he is grateful for for that day. It’s been fun listening to what he’s come up with. 🙂

Here’s some of the things he’s told me so far:

1. “I’m thankful for my friends, especially my best friend and all my friends. Oh, except for that big one who isn’t nice.”

2. “My toys, especially my transformers, ’cause they can turn into anything they want!”

3. “That I watched Sid the Science Kid this morning!” (I don’t let him watch much TV, so when he does, it’s a big treat.)

4. “I’m thankful for all my sticks. I love all the sticks in the world! It makes me be like Star Wars!” (It’s true, you should see the the pile of sticks outside my door!)

5. “I’m thankful that rocks are shiny and lots of shapes and all around us on the ground. And, and, that rocks are rocks!”

6. “I love Nutella and tortillas for breakfast!” (Of course, it’s not something he gets everyday. But, you knew that already, right? 😉 )

7. “I’m thankful that God made pizza in this world. Pizza is my favorite.”

8. “That I finally ‘winned’ (won) at Wii Bowling!”

9. “I’m thankful that I am going to be turned into a superhero!” (Yeah, he really does think he’s going to become a superhero. I let him believe it because that’s how I get him to eat his veggies. I’m a bad mom.)

10. “That I’m a monkey and can do all money things and that’s why I love Monkey Joes.”
