Choosing Joy When it Seems Impossible

I don’t do book reviews on this blog anymore but I must tell you about the book Choose Joy. It is co-written by Sara Frankl and Mary Carver and if you read just one book this year, read this one.

Choose Joy

For over 20 years Sara Frankl suffered from a rare autoimmune disease, causing her chronic pain and slowly depiliating her body until she passed away in 2011. If there was one person who had a right to complain, be angry and/or become bitter it would be Sara.

Instead, she choose to live in love, and not to let her sufferings define who she is. She choose joy. She choose the impossible. She choose to live her life as is and that is a lesson that we can all learn (or remember).

This book inspired me, challenged me, and touched me deeply. I have no doubt it will do the same for you. GO READ THIS BOOK. 🙂

My Wish For You

This Advent prayer speaks to my heart today:

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, ever faithful to your promises and ever close to your Church: the earth rejoices in hope of the Savior’s coming and looks forward with longing to his return at the end of time. Prepare our hearts and remove the sadness that hinders us from feeling the joy and hope which his presence will bestow, for he is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.

(Prayer found at catholic.org.)

As we approach the final week of Advent, it is my deepest wish that you know Christ’s healing love for you. And that your heart is filled with great peace, hope and joy in the knowledge of His awesome and abiding presence.
