Fearless Friday: A Birthday Prayer

I hope you won’t mind me indulging a bit. Today is my husband’s 42nd birthday so, naturally, I’d like to pray for him. 🙂

Michael

He is truly a wonderful man, husband and father. I am very blessed to have him in my life! Would you kindly say a quick prayer for him today? Thanks!

Birthday Prayer

God our Father,
the birth of your Son Jesus Christ
brought great joy to Mary and Joseph.
We give thanks to you for Michael whose birthday we celebrate
today.
May he ever grow in your faith, hope, and love.
We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Fearless Friday: Prayer for Vocations

{Come share your prayer request every Friday at Free Spirit Haven.}

It’s no secret that we are are in dire need of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. That is why I am dedicating this day to pray for vocations. Praying for vocations is dear to my heart because, like I mentioned before, I spent time discerning a vocation to religious life with the Little Sisters of the Poor before discovering that my real vocation was marriage and family.

We need men and women who are witnesses to Christ and who are willing to dedicate their lives to Him. We need their dedication to the people of God and His Church, to the poorest of the poor, and the the weakest of the weak.

We also need parents who are willing to support their children who may have a vocation! As parents we need to be willing to talk about vocations.  We need to be bold and willing to encourage vocations when we see them in our young people!

To all you parents, let me ask you: Are you open to your child having a vocation to the priesthood or religious life?

Let’s pray together for vocations:

“Loving God, you call all who believe in you to grow perfect in love by following in the footsteps of Christ your Son. Call from among us more men and women who will serve you as religious. By their way of life, may they provide a convincing sign of your Kingdom for the Church and the whole world. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Fearless Friday: Prayer for Cancer Patients

Photobucket

It seems like every time I turn around lately somebody I know and love (or know of) has been recently diagnosed with some form of cancer: lung cancer, colon cancer, throat cancer.

So, I am dedicating today to pray for those with cancer, for their families and caretakers. I pray that the Lord heals them if it be His will, or comfort and strength as they deal with their disease.

Prayer to St. Anthony for Those Suffering with Cancer

Dear St. Anthony, you recognized Our Lord Jesus as the Divine Healer. In your goodness and kindness, please intercede for all those who are suffering from cancer.

If it is God’s will, I ask that this day, the gift of healing be granted to them. Comfort them during times of unbearable pain, and ask our Lord to grant them peace and patience in suffering.

May God give them the fullness of life here on earth, or call them home to eternal glory forever. Amen.

Fearless Friday: Prayer for our Families

Photobucket

Today is my brother’s 36th (I think!) birthday. He’s a great guy who has had to deal with lots of “stuff” over the years. He struggles a lot and I’m not really sure where he stands in regards to his faith. Still, I love him dearly and so grateful to have him as my brother. Please, if you can, do say a little prayer for him.

I am also praying for all of our families. Those who are far from the Lord, those who are close to the Lord and those who are somewhere in between. I am praying for all our family members who are struggling with difficulties, those who are sick and for those who are rejoicing. In short, I am praying for all the special intentions of our families!

Prayer for a Family

O God of goodness and mercy, to Thy fatherly guidance we commend our family, our household and all our belongings.
We commit all to Thy love and keeping; do Thou fill this house with Thy blessings even as Thou didst fill the holy House of Nazareth with Thy presence. Keep far from us, above all else, the blemish of sin, and do Thou alone reign in our midst by Thy law,
by Thy most holy love and by the exercise of every Christian virtue. Let each one of us obey Thee, love Thee and set himself to follow in his own life Thine example, that of Mary, Thy Mother and our Mother most loving, and that of Thy blameless guardian, Saint Joseph.

Protect us and our house from all evils and misfortunes, but grant that we may be ever resigned to Thy divine will even in the sorrows which it shall please Thee to send us. Finally give unto all of us the grace to live in perfect harmony and in the fullness of love toward our neighbor. Grant that every one of us may deserve by a holy life the comfort of Thy holy Sacraments at the hour of death.
O Jesus, bless us and protect us.

O Mary, Mother of grace and of mercy, defend us against the wicked spirit, reconcile us with Thy Son, commit us to His keeping,
that so we may be made worthy of His promises.

Saint Joseph, foster-father of our Savior, guardian of His holy Mother, head of the Holy Family, intercede for us, bless us and defend our home at all times.

Saint Michael, defend us against all the evil cunning of hell.

Saint Gabriel, make us to understand the holy will of God.

Saint Raphael, preserve us from all sickness and from every danger to our lives.

Our holy Guardian Angels, keep our feet safely on the path of salvation both day and night.

Our holy Patrons, pray for us before the throne of God. Yea, bless this house,

O God the Father, who hast created us;

O God the Son, who hast suffered for us upon the holy Cross,

and Thou, O Holy Spirit, who hast sanctified us in holy Baptism.

May the one God in three Divine Persons preserve our bodies, purify our minds, direct our hearts and bring us all to everlasting life.

Glory be to the Father, glory be to the Son, glory be to the Holy Ghost!

Amen.

Fearless Friday: “Listen to Him”

Photobucket

Today is the feast of the Transfiguration. In reading the mass readings for today, these verses particularly stand out:

“Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my chosen Son; listen to Him.”

Today I am praying for the grace to be able to hear the voice of Jesus. I am praying for the grace to not let the the many cares of daily life from getting in the way of listening to His voice. I am praying for the grace to make time for prayer and reading His Word. I am praying for a deepening of my relationship with the Lord.

I am praying for this grace for each of you today, as well. I am praying that you have a deepening of your relationship with Jesus, that you grow ever closer to Him with each new day.

May our minds and hearts be transfigured unto Jesus.

What is your prayer intention for today? For this week? Please share at Free Spirit Haven so that we can pray with you.

Fearless Fridays: Prayers for Employment

Photobucket

Fearless Friday is hosted by Free Spirit Haven who has committed herself to pray for the needs of others. I am so touched by this and want to add my prayers with hers.

In particular, I am praying today for all those who are unemployed. My husband has been out of work for a while now, so we can absolutely relate with those who are in the same boat as us. He has put in so many applications and went to so many interviews and at times he gets discouraged, but still carries on.

So today, I ask for prayers for my husband that he gets a good job soon and I commit to praying for the thousands of others looking for work as well.

God bless!
