Goals for 2015

Last year, in spite of knowing that I had a busy year before me, I tried to focus on being intentional, rather than Goals for 2015reactive. I have to admit that it was very challenging and I don’t think that I was particularly successful in my attempt. However, that doesn’t mean I am going to give up. This year I am going to try again, and hopefully my 3 Words will help me focus and remind me to pay attention to what is important.

At the same time, things have to get done, so here is an overview of the major things I want to accomplish this year, while trying to be realistic:

Marriage/Parenting/Home Management Goals

1. Have a date night with Michael at least once a month.

2. Send Michael a “love text” at least once a week.

3. Have focused quality time with Andrew at least 3x week (besides homeschooling and usual family time, such as chores, before bed routine, etc.)

4. Finally put up some pictures and decorate our apartment. I am a minimalist at heart, but our place is pretty bare, even by my standards. LOL! I am not much a decorator but it is about time I learn.

Personal Goals

5. Get up at 6am five days a week. Trying to force myself to get up early everyday seems to set me up for failure. So, I am hoping that giving myself grace to sleep in twice a week (Sunday and one other day), I will put less pressure on myself.

6. Spend at least 15 minutes a day reading the bible and praying the rosary daily.

7. Exercise at least 15 minutes a day, 5 times a week. We bought Andrew the Wii U for Christmas this year and it inspired me to break out my Wii Fit, so now I actually look forward to getting up to exercise.

Educational/Blogging/Business Goals

8. Keep up with my course work and graduate in May! I can’t believe it is almost over. I can’t wait!

9. Blog here at Simple Catholic Living at least once a week during school and 3x a week after I graduate.

10. Finish and launch my grammar website (grammarplace.com).

That’s it. I’m sure that these goals may be modified over the year, but I am okay with that. At least I have a guide to help me stay on track.

Now it’s your turn. What are your goals (or resolutions, if your prefer) for 2015?

She’s Back…..! (Mostly) and Weekly Goals

Set Goals

Well, I haven’t posted since September 8th. I never planned for that to happen, but the two 7 1/2 week classes turned out to be very labor intensive, along with my other two classes, plus homeschooling Andrew, plus life…you know the drill! Plus, we had changes to my husband’s employment which has been a bit of a life-changer. Also, this Wednesday I have a big presentation for my Anglo-Saxon class, and after that, I’m pretty much good except for a couple of big-project papers and possibly a final. So, hopefully, I will be able to get some regular blogging in – especially since I am WAY past due on some book reviews.

As for goal setting, I pretty much blew it to the wayside for a while; therefore, I am not going to post my previous goals, just the ones for this week. Also, I am only going to start with eight goals, so I can ease back into the goal setting mode.

Marriage/Parenting/Home Management Goals

1. Send Michael a “love text” twice this week.

2. Stay on top of Andrew’s homeschool.

Personal Goals

3. Get up at 6:00 am.

4. Spend at least 15 minutes reading the bible and prayer every morning.

5. Exercise at least 15 minutes, 5 times this week.

Educational Goals

6. Finish preparing presentation and give to class.

7. Write pre-proposal for my Senior Seminar professor. (She is helping me with some ideas for my final paper.)

Blogging/Writing Goals

8. Write at least one blog post this week (besides this one).

Now it’s your turn. Share what you have going on this week in the comments, or join us over at Money Saving Mom with your own goals.

Weekly Goals

Set Goals

I pretty much bombed in the goals department last week. Apart from meeting with my career counselor and keeping up with my course work, I didn’t get anything crossed off. But, I’m okay with that. I went to visit friends in Virginia for Independence Day weekend and had lots of pool time/fun time with Andrew, and just plain resting up. It was just what I needed! 🙂 Now, I am ready to get back on track so here are my goals for this coming week:

Marriage/Parenting/Home Management Goals

1. Send Michael a “love text” twice this week.

2. Finish reading Five Children and It to Andrew. (I really want to get this done!)

3. Bring Andrew to my mom’s so she can take him to Vacation Bible School. (She is keeping for a few days, so I should get a lot done. Boohah!)

Personal Goals

4. Get up at 6:00 and get to Mass 3x times this week.

5. Read a chapter each day of the book study I am doing, and spend ten minutes in quiet time.

6. Exercise at least 15 minutes, 5 times this week.

Educational Goals

7. Continue reading ahead for my class and write next paper.

Blogging/Writing Goals

8. Write two blog posts.

9. Start writing the “free gift” for the other website. (More on that project coming soon.)

10. Create/upload one video for website.

Weekly Goals

Set Goals

At the beginning of the year, I decided that I would stop blogging about my goals. I felt like my blog was going into a different direction, and publishing my goals didn’t fit. However, over the past months, I’ve been neglecting my goals, not living intentionally, and I feel like I have been so focused on my course work that everything else went by the wayside. I obviously need the accountability that comes with putting my goals out there! So, here I am back to setting goals. 🙂 My plan is to keep things simple and doable.

Marriage/Parenting/Home Management Goals

1. Send Michael a “love text” twice this week.

2. Finish reading Five Little Peppers and How They Grew to Andrew.

3. Write out our homeschooling plan for summer.

4. Clean out our homeschooling area.

Personal Goals

5. Get up at 6:30.

6. Spend at least 15 minutes reading the bible/praying.

7. Exercise at least 15 minutes, 5 times this week.

Educational Goals

8. Start summer class (on Shakespeare) and keep up with course work.

Blogging/Writing Goals

9. Spend at least 30 minutes per day on my writing projects.

10. Write 3 blog posts.

That’s it! We will see how I do. 🙂
