Tip for Keeping Track of Online Passwords

key
This isn’t my usual kind of post, but I was changing/updating my passwords and thought I would share a little tip for storing and keeping track of all the passwords you have from the various websites, forums and groups you belong to. 🙂

A lot of people use Microsoft® Excel or other safe-guarded program on the computer. Personally, though, I’m not comfortable with storing my passwords on the computer. You never know when/if your computer is going to crash (mine has twice!) and if your backup fails, you’re in trouble.  Besides that, there is always the possibility of your computer being compromised, no matter how careful you are.

Here’s my tip:

Use an address book. Write in your user name and password for each site alphabetically in the address book and then you will have easy access to your passwords in case you forget. For example: I have my user name and password for my Facebook account filed under “F” and my user name/password for my Twitter account is filed under  “T”, etc.

For a long time, I just used a notebook dedicated to my list of passwords. It was convenient, but I would have to search through lists of passwords before finding the one I needed (if I couldn’t remember the password or where in the list I’d written it). The address book, on the other hand, is safe, convenient and organized – and that works for me!

Have your own system for storing and/or keeping track of your your passwords? Please leave a comment and share it with us!

Complimentary Menu Planner and Grocery List Worksheet

Since I’ve been doing (or trying to do!) menu planning every week, I created a *very* simple menu planner worksheet and grocery list for myself.

I printed out a bunch of the worksheets and keep them in my home management binder. My home management binder is almost always open or close by, so it’s easy to add ingredients to my grocery list and put together my menu plan.

My particular menu planner worksheet doesn’t account for snacks because I don’t plan in advance for them. If I wanted to plan ahead for snacks, there is usually enough room to write them in at the end of the worksheet.

As for the grocery list, it is based on the categories of my coupon box. This template, too, has room at the bottom for notes or to add anything that doesn’t fit in the categories listed.

In case you were interested in using a menu planning or grocery list template, I thought I’d share mine with you. 🙂 Feel free to download either worksheet – or both. 🙂

Here you are:

I hope you find them useful. Enjoy!

Saints and Scripture Sunday: Perseverance in Prayer

Saints and Scripture Sunday

(A big thanks to @DiannaKennedy at The Kennedy Adventures for inviting me to participate in her Saints and Scripture Meme!)

I love this Sunday’s Mass readings. They gives me such hope!  Luke, chapter 11, particularly resonates with me. Who doesn’t know and love these verses?:

“Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10

God always answers our prayers. His timing is not always our timing and the prayers may not be answered the way we expect; but, in His goodness and love, He always hears us. Sometimes it’s “yes”. Sometimes it’s “no” (because what He has in store for you is better!). Sometimes it’s “wait”. But, He always answers. 🙂

We have only to make ourselves available to the Lord, to persevere on prayer, and to be open to hearing His voice.

Fearless Fridays: Prayers for Employment

Photobucket

Fearless Friday is hosted by Free Spirit Haven who has committed herself to pray for the needs of others. I am so touched by this and want to add my prayers with hers.

In particular, I am praying today for all those who are unemployed. My husband has been out of work for a while now, so we can absolutely relate with those who are in the same boat as us. He has put in so many applications and went to so many interviews and at times he gets discouraged, but still carries on.

So today, I ask for prayers for my husband that he gets a good job soon and I commit to praying for the thousands of others looking for work as well.

God bless!

FOR TODAY…July 20, 2010

Outside my window…it’s shady thanks to the lovely trees. 🙂

I am thankful for…the gift of freedom. We are truly blessed to live in our country. I don’t think we always realize how fragile this gift of freedom is, though.

From the learning rooms…I totally slacked in homeschooling last week. Only did school on Monday and then took the rest of the week off. I need to buckle down and finish so we can take a longer break before officially starting Andrew in kindergarten.

From the kitchen…Tacos for dinner tonight. My son loves when we do tacos!

I am going…to vote! It’s our state’s primary for Governor, Senate and Congressman. May the conservatives prevail! 🙂

I am reading…St. Louis De Montfort’s “Total Consecration to Mary” in preparation for the annual renewal of my total consecration on August 22nd.

I am hoping…Michael will get the job he interviewed for last week. Please pray! He has a second interview today at 8:30am, so here’s hoping he’ll get a job offer!

Around the house…I have spiral notebooks and papers spewed about the couch and end table. I don’t have an official office here in our apartment, so I divide my work space between the dining room table and the couch. 🙂

One of my favorite things…is goldenrod wild flowers. Some people consider them weeds but I think they are beautiful!

A few plans for the rest of the week…are food shopping, laundry…same ole, same ole…

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…(The trees behind our apartment. It was raining when I took the picture – that’s why there are dots.)

FOR TODAY…Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Outside my window…is buggy. I went outside yesterday to sweep our little patio and in only three days it was already full of cob webs, ants and creepy crawlers. Exciting for my son but so gross to me! Can you say ICK?!

I am thinking…that I need to get back into the exercise groove – especially the stretching. I’ve been slacking and can tell in how I feel. I have mild CP and if I don’t stretch, it can make the difference in being able to walk or not.

I am thankful for…the gift of faith. Believe this: God loves you no matter what. He has created you and you are unrepeatable and precious!

From the kitchen…Nothing exciting, just following this week’s menu plan.

I am wearing…gray ankle-length skirt, light blue top and snood.

I am creating…a new website! I’m very excited about this. (Info to be forthcoming soon…)

I am hearing…the sounds of the central air conditioning and country music.

One of my favorite things…is learning! I love learning about people, new places and new skills.

A few plans for the rest of the week…We are planning to take Andrew to see Toy Story 3 this week. I think I’m more excited about it than he is! lol!

Here is picture (video!) for thought I am sharing…This is too cute not to share (found at the Swag Bucks Blog)

Complimentary Recipe Book from Jiffy!

In case you missed it in my post last week, you can receive a complimentary recipe book from Jiffy Mix here. I haven’t received my copy yet, but I’ve tried the recipes on the website and they are really good, so the ones in the book should be too!

Enjoy!
