Give Your Prayer Life a Boost this Lenten Season
From the Book Description
The season of Lent is a time of prayer, sacrifice and almsgiving. More importantly, it is a time to reflect on the suffering, death and resurrection of Our Lord. However, in the rush and stress of our busy lives, the real meaning of Lent can be lost.
However, the good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way! By spending some time each day in prayer, you can refocus and center your heart and mind on our Lord and Savior: Jesus Christ. And, the Lenten Prayer Journal For Women can help.
Are you one of those people who consider the practices of Lent – fasting, penances, extra prayer and almsgiving – to be just one more thing to be added to a super busy schedule? If so, you are SO not alone. Lent used to be that way for me, too. But, a few years ago, I decided I wanted to really focus on the meaning of Lent which is conversion of heart and deepening my relationship with God. I wanted to get away of thinking about me (what I’m giving up, what I am doing, etc) and start thinking more about God and what Jesus has done for me.
That Lent I started journaling more seriously and regularly. I would take a short Scripture verse from the Mass that day and journal about it. More often than not, that starting point would lead to a free writing prayer session and it changed me life!
I started out with journaling 3-5 minutes a day and gradually increased it to 10 minutes a day. The short time I spent journal praying helped me to focus on Christ and His word. It helped me to pour out my heart in ways I couldn’t do when I just sat and prayed without writing. Additionally, at the end of Lent, I was able to look back and see how I’ve changed and grown, even in such a short amount of time.
And that’s what I want for you. I want more than anything for you to experience Christ in a deep and personal way and to truly understand His love and mercy toward you. It is my prayer that by using this journal to pour out your own heart to the Lord, you can truly enter into the Lenten season and grow in your love for the Lord. God bless.
