7 Sundays Devotion to Saint Joseph (Starts this Sunday)

Are you familiar with the 7 Sundays Devotion to Saint Joseph? I wasn’t either until I got the “Handbook of Prayers” for my birthday a couple of years ago. This devotion is in the book.

What is the 7 Sundays Devotion all about? According to the “Handbook of Prayers“:

“Joseph shared the happiness-but also the sufferings-of Mary. The Seven Sundays Devotion honors the seven joys and sorrows of St. Joseph. It starts on the seventh Sunday previous to March 19 (the last Sunday in January or the first Sunday of February). “

That would be this coming Sunday (February 5) folks!

I did a little search about the history of this devotion and where/how this devotion was developed, but came up blank. Just like there is little known about St. Joseph, there his little known about this prayer. 🙂

In the book, there are a different set of prayers for each Sunday. I wasn’t able to find these prayers online; but, if you want to participate in the devotion, I found the St. Joseph website which has a prayer for the devotion.

I hope you will join me in this great devotion to the foster-father of Jesus!

  1. I often think that St. Joseph is too much forgotten so it’s great to learn of this devotion. Our Lady said at Fatima that St. Joseph is always near her. When we see Mary we should see Joseph, too.

Amen to that! I began my devotion to Saint Joseph when I was discerning with the sisters, and I’m so grateful for that. I relied on St. Joseph A LOT back when my husband was on the road for a month at a time. He has never let me down!

  2. My husband and I were just discussing St Joseph on Friday. Brett is in college for a brand new second career, and really feeling the pressure of studying, working, taking care of things at home, adding a new baby to the mix, etc etc. I suggested turning to St Joseph – he’s the model of fatherhood and husbandry.

I was not familiar with this devotion, but I’m off to check out more about it. I’m especially fond of St Joseph.

Thanks so much for stopping by and joining in Saints and Scripture Sunday!

Wow, you both have a lot going on! I will keep you both in prayer as he goes to college and you prepare for the baby.
